Maldives U20 head coach István Urbányi has expressed satisfaction with the national youth squad as preparations continue for the SAFF U20 Championship, which will be held in Malé.
Speaking about the team, Urbányi said he is pleased with the group of players selected and believes the squad has strong potential. According to the coach, the players have shown commitment and quality during training and preparation matches.
Urbányi also highlighted that the upcoming tournament will be an opportunity for Maldivian football fans to witness the country’s next generation of talented players.
“I am happy with the squad,” Urbányi said, expressing confidence in the team. He added that he trusts the players and believes they have the ability to perform well during the competition.
The Hungarian coach noted that the team includes several promising youngsters who could become important figures in the future of Maldivian football. He said he is excited for supporters to see these young prodigies represent the nation.
Maldives have been preparing intensively for the tournament, with trials and training sessions conducted to build a competitive squad. More than 150 players initially took part in open trials as the coaching staff worked to identify the best talents for the national team.
The SAFF U20 Championship will take place from March 23 to April 3 in Malé, where Maldives will compete against other South Asian nations in the regional youth tournament.
