Veteran forward Ali Ashfaq has made his return to the Maldives national football team after a three-year absence, marking an important moment for Maldivian football. The experienced striker, widely regarded as one of the country’s greatest players, brings leadership and attacking quality back to the national squad.

His return also means he will once again play under head coach István Urbányi. This will be the second time Ashfaq features for the national team under Urbányi’s management, renewing a coach-player partnership that Maldivian fans are familiar with.

Ashfaq’s comeback is expected to strengthen the team both on and off the field, as his experience and influence could play a key role in guiding younger players while boosting the team’s attacking options in upcoming international matches
